HERBAL INTERACTIONS

This project is the culmination of working with plant consciousness for years. It started over a decade ago when I began to study herbal medicine. My herbal school gave us an herb each week to use and work with, to give us experiential knowledge of the plant. The first herb given us was German chamomile. I steeped chamomile in both hot and cold water, slept with a chamomile sachet near my pillow, and added a big pot of chamomile tea to a bath. The idea of immersing myself in a ginormous cup of tea made the bathing experience silly and surreal, which is healing in itself.

When contemplating other ways to experiment with the herb, I heard internal guidance to meditate with it; to invite chamomile’s essence into my consciousness and open myself up to whatever messages it wished to give me. I found this concept fascinating. Could I really access information – and possible healing – without ingesting the plant? Did I have the ability to communicate with the plants on a telepathic level?

I wasn’t sure, but was excited at the possibility of something coming from it. I wished to know the herbs deeply; I thought, what better way to form intimate relationships with herbs than to be in communion with them? And so began this personal project with the herbs, one I continued a few years later with flower essences. Each time I worked with a new plant deva, I asked it for conversation. And each time I was pleased with our interactions; I found them lovely and delicious in a soulful way.

Working with herbs and plants helps bring people into balance over time, in ways beyond the physical. They inspire folks to get their mental and emotional bodies into balance as well. There is great intelligence in all plants. This intelligence is part of the formless realm, the space each plant spirit resides, the space from which the plant’s energetic signature vibrates. It is when its vibration encounters your vibration that interactions occur. Information is communicated along energetic pathways. When you take in herbs, either on the physical level or purely on an energetic level, their consciousness washes over and through you.

You can access a plant’s intelligence without ever imbibing their physical matter. While many herbs are safe, not all herbs are physically appropriate or healing for all people. If an herb intrigues you, I suggest learning about it in detail, and perhaps reaching out to a practicing herbalist to discuss if it would be good for you. Or go within and speak to the plant spirit directly. Get into a meditative state, invite the herb into your world, and be open to what transpires. I interacted with many herbs, and they always met me where I was at. They will do the same for you, too.

Another way to get an introduction to a few herbs is via the stories, concepts, and messages communicated through my interactions with them. All volumes are standalone pieces and do not build on the others. Within these pieces you will find an assortment of energies; each herb has its own personality and communication style. Each herbal interaction is unique, even for the herbs who requested more than one meeting with me. Some have straightforward ideas to impart, while others contain coded messages from the plant devas. These are up to particular readers to decipher; these readers will feel something or have an intuitive knowing that certain words or ideas are meant for them.

Herbs are intelligent and always respectful. Some weren’t the friendliest to me, but all have been helpful in one way or another. When I asked for an herb willing to have its interaction seen by all who will visit this page, Alfalfa quickly stepped forward. The first interaction is longer than most in these collections; Alfalfa wished to convey a specific amount of detail in that story. I invite you to read both herbal interactions below; they give a taste of the tales within this herbal series.

ALFALFA HERBAL INTERACTION #1

LATIN NAME: Medicago sativa
COMMON NAME: Alfalfa

I hear, “Where does the energy go? Follow the deep pulse.” Alfalfa feels solid, structured, and contained. I see a field similar to a cornfield, but more compact. The plant stalks are packed closely together. They are very thin and organized. Chaos is not allowed in this space. A man emerges from these soft stalks. I hear, “bean counter.” He wears a suit and business attire from the 1930s. He has small wired glasses and a Hamburg hat; his clothes are tailored and impeccably clean.

This man is very meticulous as he examines the crop. He has an extreme eye for detail and takes measurements of the plants with his vision alone. He does not have any external tools but can accurately assess the height and volume each patch will produce for sale. He bends down on his haunches and a well-maintained and manicured hand feels the dirt; from this process, he knows the mineral and nutritional content of the soil. This man also has supreme architectural abilities. He spends a decent amount of time surveying the entire crop, all in silence and with intense focus. He is very careful in how he physically touches the plants and soil: it is done with a delicate touch. I somehow understand I am not to disturb his process as he catalogs details.

At the end of this survey process he walks outside of the field, scans the crop carefully with his eyes to take in the entire field, and closes his eyes while he inhales deeply. A voice tells me he is pulling more data to him with this breathing action. As he exhales, he drops his head down for a few seconds, signaling the data gathering is complete.

He walks over to a picnic table that is suddenly there, sits down, snaps open his briefcase, and takes out a tablet that is in the form of a single piece of thin plexiglass looking material. He draws about seven or eight short lines and curves in various directions, puts his hand on top of what looks like little scribbles, and somehow downloads the information he took into his body via his senses into this assortment of symbols.

What he downloads into this tablet looks almost like a grid of lines with various levels of movement and density. When the information connects with these scribbles on the tablet, these squiggles somehow capture the man’s information in their structure. The man, Alfalfa, then takes this tablet, goes to the edge of the field, inserts it into the ground, takes a few deep breaths, and murmurs something soft and indistinct towards the ground and the field. He takes out the tablet and on its surface is entirely different data.

Alfalfa walks over to the picnic bench where he was before, puts the tablet away, closes his briefcase, and takes off his jacket. He motions gently for me to join him at the table as he softly says, “Please.” Alfalfa is very dignified and waits for me to be seated before he takes a seat across the table. I thank him as I quietly take the seat. We both close our eyes and take in the fresh and vibrant smells the gentle breeze brings to us. I hear a hawk in the distance.

Alfalfa asks, “How are you this day?”

I open my eyes and see him looking right at me. Alfalfa has wonderful posture; his hands are clasped in a formal but relaxed way, and his head is tilted slightly as he awaits my response. I sense he prefers formality – this matches his organized disposition – and I reply, ”Very well, thank you. And yourself?”

Alfalfa responds, “It is a wonderful day. My heart is full, the field has communicated its needs, and the conversation with its intelligence honors me greatly. I understand what needs to be done to enhance its fullness, to bring forward its wealth of vitality. To enhance its state of wellness. To be a caretaker, a steward, is a high honor in itself. And when the land decides to work in collaboration….there are no words to convey the sublime peace resulting from this trust.”

We rest a few minutes in silence before I thank him for stepping forward to meet with me. He says, “Of course! It was the right thing to do and I am happy to be of service.”

I tell him I collect stories and messages from the plant devas; I ask if that is what he is. “Not exactly, my dear. Sometimes you are in communication with the devas themselves, and other times they send emissaries in their place. The step down in vibration is too great a distance to be translated in your realm at times. It all depends on the message needed.

“In this case, I am a connector. I am part of the life force of what you call alfalfa. I am the communication module. You can say I connect people to their innate elegance. Their innate refinement. There is great beauty in structured intelligence. As well as in cohesion that comes about when body and energetic systems are in integrity and flow with other systems. The human body is a masterpiece. The harmonics are indescribable. It is eloquent and elegant and exquisite. It is a perfect balance between fluidity and form.”

He hears me question the eloquence description.

Alfalfa replies, “The body wishes to be in collaboration with the consciousness that inhabits it. However, its language is different from the languages humans communicate with. Communication is subtle and sublime when its systems remain in harmony with one another. The vibration emitted by the body’s pleasure in this state of cohesion can be translated to sound like a beautiful symphony created by a maestro. It sends out the energy of love and appreciation when this happens, which is how I define eloquence.

“When systems become disconnected from another, or burdened, this eloquence gets partially muted. It is still there throughout most of the body, but the vibration coming from the struggling component…you can say it takes center stage. A different type of eloquence emerges when the body transmits communication that it is out of harmony. There is elegance in this desire to reconnect with the flow of ever abundant love and vitality. There is great beauty in this reaching towards reconnection with the whole of vitality. Yes, the body is a piece of art.

“I facilitate connection to flow and harmony. I facilitate connection to a state of connection. Mine is a very thoughtful, meticulous, and gentle collaboration with the physical realm. I am neither the plant nor the plant dava. I am a bridge. A bridge that connects consciousness to the elements, and translates what is needed from both parties to experience a fullness of wellness and vitality.

“What you saw me do before was take data of what I saw in the field from an outsider point of view. I then presented this to the land, and the land told me what it needed to optimize the wealth of wellness it brings forward to the peoples of this land. We had a conversation.

“The devas sent me to anchor the energies of connection, integration, and the innate elegance in this particular plant consciousness. It holds foundational elegance; energy that is very gentle, strong, quiet, fluid, and structured. The human body contains all of these characteristics, as well. These qualities are some of the things that make the body such an exquisite piece of art. The physical body is stunningly beautiful in its infrastructure and….”

Note: I was going to use the word ‘mechanics’ in my translation, but Alfalfa tells me that term is too primitive, insulting, and vulgar when used in relation to the body.

Alfalfa continues, “Grace. It is transcendental.” The term “grace” is used to describe something like movement or fluid motion. There isn’t a word I can find that respectfully describes the movement of Life Force in the human body, but these are acceptable.

I sense our time together is wrapping up. Alfalfa moves forward to gently clasp my hands in his. He says, “You have all you need, my dear. It is all within you. Start a conversation with the body, the beautiful human body. Speak with silence and then listen….with respect and with an open heart. The body will sing for you.”

Note: Alfalfa whispers this message is for all, not only me.

Alfalfa lets go of my hands and quietly stands up. He waits for me to join him, then gives me a soft and warm hug. He steps back slightly and brings both of his hands up to the sides of my face. He cups my head for a few seconds and caresses my skin slightly as he releases his hold. He grabs his briefcase and disappears into the earth below us. I hear an owl hoot and know this meditation is complete.

ALFALFA HERBAL INTERACTION #2

LATIN NAME: Medicago sativa
COMMON NAME: Alfalfa

I put an image of the dried herb outside of my energetic space and am told to give it an offering. A glass of water immediately comes to mind, and I place it in front of its image. The being I saw in the previous meditation appears, the elegant man in a three-piece suit. He sits atop a wooden fence with his hands on each side and his legs crossed at the ankles. I immediately think that must be uncomfortable, to which he asks, “What would you have me sit on, my dear?”

I begin to envision expensive designer chairs, ones I believe match his very refined and elegant disposition; however, he rejects this idea. Instead, he shows me a very rustic handmade chair with a simple cushion in muted colors. We are both suddenly in an enclosed outdoor area, an old sauna structure that was converted into a rustic gathering place. He sits on this wooden chair, with me opposite him in a camping chair.

He speaks, “Elegance is comfortable in the ordinary, the common, the every day. It is accessible to all and is not restricted by budgets. Just because there is financial wealth present does not mean the ones with this form of abundance have elegance. Conversely, for those without financial abundance, elegance does not discriminate against them. It flows to those with a capacity to contain it. It is outside of finances. It is outside class, ego, social constructs, and social hierarchy.

“Elegance is a way of being in this world; it is a method of flowing energy and flowing life force. It is a comfort of being in your own skin, and flowing the energy the Creator gave you to flow. It is a connection to grace. It is subdued and quiet and never demands attention. Elegance is a commitment to balance. It is a specific balance of knowing your innate worth, but not letting the knowledge of this worth elevate you above others in the world. Elegance is working in harmony with what is seemingly outside of you. It is respecting the flow rate of these aspects of life, and respecting the limitations built into their current mechanism of flow.

“My energy helps harmonize flow between people and their environment. I deliver information between different parts. I facilitate collaboration. The harmony that results brings great wealth. Not necessarily a physical kind of wealth, but something more valuable. It is the value of knowing you are maintaining balance and have dexterity with your energy. It is the value inherent in experiencing more connection to yourself, which translates to more connection with other factors in your life. Connection to your flow and to the All is true wealth. The All gets translated to what appears to be external forces in your world, such as other humans. If these external factors seem to be depleting your flow, look within.

“You have what you need inside of you, my dear. Everyone does. Ask yourself what you need and then attend to it. Grow the internal component that will satisfy and balance this need, so the need is transformed into a state of active and harmonious flow. If you are not in flow, something is out of balance, whether that is something physical, mental, or emotional. An aspect of your life is demanding nourishment. Attend to this need, dear one, so that you may once again dance with your flow.”

This gentleman stops speaking, leans back into the chair, and breathes out a relaxed and appreciative sigh. His eyes are closed, and he has a very gentle smile on his face. He emanates an intense energy of relaxation and bliss. The pint glass of water I offered him is on a small side table, but it is no longer water. It is an infusion of alfalfa tea, in a luscious and earthy green hue.

While in his state of joyful repose, he reaches for the glass in a relaxed but decisive manner and pours the contents over his head. His physical body morphs into golden/silvery/green energy particles that have supreme life force. These particles rise above the wooden structure we conversed in, lift high into the sky, and then rocket outward in all directions. They encircle and seed this planet with elegant and nourishing energy. I send thanks to Alfalfa into the ethers, and then feel his energy hug my body and my heart.
